Backlinks From Social Networking Sites

The whole ‘Web 2.0′ thing is all we hear about online these days. Sites like digg.com and del.icio.us bring users together, who submit their own content and then other users vote on whether they like it, and the more people who like it, the more exposure it gets and in time the more people who visit that website.

Below I have listed several social networking/bookmarking sites that i use.

digg
del.icio.us
reddit
blinklist
dzone - This has been especially handy when promoting my PHP scripts over at phplemon.com
netscape
ma.gnolia
furl
stumbleupon

Even if your submitted story isn’t picked up, and a huge amount of people don’t visit your site, you will still get a backlink, which can help with your google pagerank and also with people searching for certain keywords through search engines.

The biggest tip i have when trying to make a success out of submitting stories to sites like digg.com is to try and get as many people to add themselves as your friends. How do I do that you might ask? Well, you could try adding other people as your friends and when they see you have added them, they will look at your profile and quite possibly add you back as their friends.

Give it a try, you can’t really lose.
